Description
Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis LLC, a world-class supplier of power generation services, parts, and repairs, has an immediate opening for a qualified individual who desires to join a growing organization and has an appetite for diverse and technically challenging work.
This incumbent will be a hands-on leader responsible for assisting the site’s production supervisor/manager with end-to-end supply, quality, fabrication, and technical performance for all industrial gas turbine components. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with continuous, efficient training for all current and future operations staff.
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs routine maintenance, troubleshoots technical malfunctions, and repairs with the full scope of work.
- Collaborates and conducts detailed hands-on inspections on turbine structures (Nozzle) and assists employees and the site’s operation supervisor with expertise knowledge on damage and wear of parts.
- Proactively assess the degradation of turbine (Nozzle) parts and hardware; communicates risks, findings, and deficiencies back to the site’s operations supervisor and internal stakeholders.
- Use diagnostic tools (micrometers, oscilloscopes, etc.) to evaluate current and incoming vane parts.
- Assist Operations Supervisor/Manager in the enforcement of all PPE initiatives and site safety protocols.
- Assists with maintaining all related paperwork, including but not limited to routers and current and new employee training records.
- Assists, communicates, and provides on-time delivery status on all departments’ (Nozzle’s) projects.
- Assist and collaborate with performing departmental Root Cause Analysis (RCA’s) associated with the department’s components.
- Assists and provides subject matter technical advice to all current and new employees with technical support on all designated manufacturing processes and deviations.
- Performs other associated departmental duties assigned by management.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED/Apprenticeship classes or trade school (all levels)
- Welding vocational school training or 3-5 years of experience with TIG welding in lieu of a certificate.
- Must have at least 5-7 years of welding experience in the Gas Turbine Industry.
- Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as required.
- Full Knowledge of TIG Welding procedures, practices, and techniques required to weld and/or fuse metals together (all levels)
- Must be familiar with Power Generation (Turbine) equipment.
- Well-versed with NDE techniques, such as dye penetrant testing.
- Knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools associated with TIG welding, such as chipping hammer, grinder, sander, etc. (all levels)
- Knowledge and ability to use standard precision measuring instruments and hand tools such as tape measure, level, square, file, or rasp, etc.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, sketches, procedures, and other specifications.
- Well-versed in welding in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Strong customer service experience in explaining and discussing needed repairs. and being able to determine the scheduling time frame.
- Ability to lead other diaphragm welders and supervise work being performed at the customer site when necessary.
- Full understanding of associated mathematical arithmetic.
- Good visual and auditory acuity.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on building strong interpersonal relationships.
