About the Role:

The Citco Tax Team is seeking an experienced professional with hands on experience in real estate taxation, including partnerships and REITs.  In addition to tax compliance and client service duties, the ideal candidate has the opportunity to help build the Real Estate Tax group by assisting in the development of new processes and the improvement of existing processes.

Job Duties in Brief:

  • Perform REIT asset and income testing and review responses to REIT property questionnaires, with follow-up as needed
  • Manage tax deliverables for real estate clients, including preparation and review of tax estimates, taxable income and allocations, and Schedule K-1s
  • Analyze E&P projections and tax characterization of dividends
  • Participate in automation of REIT testing and tax compliance reporting
  • Review federal and state tax returns prepared by 3rd party
  • Build and manage client relationships
  • Research federal and state tax issues
  • Liaise with clients and their tax advisors on the taxable income calculations, allocations, and preparation of income tax returns
  • Work extensively with Fund Accounting team for coordination of source information
  • Develop and improve processes around growing real estate tax offering
  • Manage and train direct reports and coordinate assignments
  • Assist in the pursuit of new business, including sales pitches and pricing of engagements

About You:

  • 5+ years of relevant real estate tax experience, including knowledge of REIT taxation rules and regulations and real estate partnership taxation
  • Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
  • Experience with federal and state tax return compliance and tax depreciation
  • Experience with managing and/or leading staff
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent  written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability of work product
  • Strong Excel skills
