The Architectural Coordinator supports the Architecture team in preparing, coordinating, and maintaining residential construction documents across multiple Shea Homes communities. This role ensures construction drawings, lot-specific plans, and permit submittals are accurate, complete, and compliant with municipal requirements.
The coordinator works closely with internal teams including Product Development, Purchasing, Construction, Sales, and Design Studio, as well as external consultants such as structural engineers and trade partners.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
• 3–5+ years of architectural drafting or coordination experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Ability to read and interpret residential construction documents
• Understanding of residential building systems and construction processes
• Familiarity with residential building codes and permitting processes.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Revit / BIM workflows
• Production homebuilder experience
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Drafting, or related field

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Construction Document Production
• Assist in preparation and maintenance of residential construction drawings
• Incorporate redlines and revisions from architects and project managers
• Coordinate structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire sprinkler drawings
• Contribute to improvements in drafting standards, workflows, and documentation processes
Municipal Submittals & Permitting
• Prepare plan packages for municipal review
• Coordinate supporting documentation including structural calculations, soils reports, and energy reports
• Track revisions and resubmittals
Lot-Specific Plan Development
• Create lot-specific plans based on grading and site constraints
• Coordinate with construction teams to address field conditions
• Incorporate structural or design adjustments required for individual lots
Plan Maintenance & Revision Control
• Manage plan revision logs
• Issue updates to trade partners and internal teams
• Maintain drawing standards and documentation accuracy
Cross-Department Collaboration
• Coordinate with Sales and Design Studio regarding plan options and sales plans
• Support Product Development during new plan creation
• Provide drawings and documentation for marketing or sales materials

Success in the Architectural Coordinator role is demonstrated through accuracy, coordination, and the ability to manage multiple plan sets and deadlines across several communities. The successful candidate will:
• Consistently produce accurate construction drawings and revisions that support efficient field construction.
• Ensure municipal submittals and permit packages are complete, organized, and submitted on schedule.
• Coordinate effectively with internal teams (Product Development, Construction, Sales, and Design Studio) and external partners including structural engineers and trade consultants.
• Maintain clear and organized revision logs and documentation, ensuring trade partners and internal teams always have the most current plans.
• Quickly incorporate redlines and field feedback to improve drawing accuracy and reduce
construction delays.
• Support the Architecture team in maintaining high-quality standards for Shea Homes construction documents across all communities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards, processes, and workflows within the Architectural Department.
