Description

The Administrative Tech processes admissions/pre-admissions in ER, Clinics, or Outpatient Registration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects payments for deductibles, co-pays, and deposits if necessary.
  • Gathers correct patient demographic information.
  • Gathers correct insurance information; Insurance verification/pre-certification if necessary.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations.
  • Courteous to patients, visitors, and staff; treats all patients, visitors, and staff with respect and dignity.
  • Informs and obtains appropriate signatures on necessary paperwork. Communicates clearly with patient regarding paperwork to be signed.
  • Answers phones and notifies appropriate party of messages.
  • Completes the admission process in a timely manner with little or no errors.
  • Checks email daily. Stays logged into to Microsoft teams to openly communicate with co-workers throughout the day. 
  • Completes any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time frames.
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduled.  
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Adheres to all JPH policies and procedures.

Requirements

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.  
  • Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
  • One year experience in hospital admissions preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • None

LANGUAGE and PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Strong written and verbal skills.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work long hours between breaks and meals, if necessary.  
  • Basic computer competency.  

MACHINERY/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to operate telephone, fax machine, copy machine, computer, printer, and calculator.
