Job Description

At Fives, we all play a role in advancing industry and shaping the future of manufacturing. As an Electrical Designer, you will be a key contributor in designing, integrating, and supporting industrial automation systems from concept through commissioning.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and integrate electrical systems for industrial automation projects
  • Develop clear, well-organized electrical schematics using AutoCAD
  • Lay out power cabinets, select electrical components, and size conductors for feeder and branch circuits
  • Apply sound electrical design practices in compliance with NEC codes and regulations
  • Create and maintain organized project documentation, including drawing templates, title blocks, drawing lists, and bills of material
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, purchasing, electricians, and assembly technicians to optimize system design and performance
  • Partner with engineering leadership and finance to develop project schedules and support bid proposals
  • Develop Supplier Scope of Work (SSOW) documents for electrical contractors when required
  • Provide project leadership and coordination as needed
  • Interface directly with customers during commissioning, acceptance testing, system delivery, and post-installation support

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 1–3 years of engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus
  • Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, Ethernet networks, PLCs, and HMI programming
  • Experience with 480 VAC, 120 VAC, three-phase, and 24 VDC power distribution systems
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to anticipate issues and propose effective solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and grow
