Job Description

Join a supportive, close-knit Women's & Newborns' team that provides patient-centered care across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery. You’ll guide families through birth, recovery, and newborn care—delivering safe, evidence-based nursing in a community-based hospital.





Key Responsibilities





  • Manage laboring patients and perform fetal monitoring; circulate for C-sections.




  • Provide newborn care from delivery through discharge (resuscitation, stabilization, intermediate care).




  • Recover patients after deliveries/C-sections; complete admission & daily assessments.




  • Educate and support mothers on breastfeeding; collaborate with lactation consultants.




  • Administer medications per policy; maintain sterile field and handle specimens correctly.




  • Assist anesthesia with procedures (e.g., epidurals); prep rooms and support surgical teams.




  • Document accurately in the EHR; communicate changes promptly to providers/charge RN.




  • Participate in time-out and safety protocols; precept peers and promote best practices.




  • Provide OB Department on-call coverage as needed.







Qualifications



Licensure/Certifications





  • Current Texas RN license.




  • BLS required.




  • ACLS within 6 months of hire.




  • Fetal Monitoring: Basic within 6 months; Intermediate within 1 year; Advanced by year 3.




  • NRP within 6 months; Neonatal STABLE within 1 year.





Experience





  • One year recent L&D/Postpartum/Nursery experience preferred.





Skills





  • Excellent communication and customer service; bilingual a plus.




  • Strong organization, multitasking, and critical thinking.




  • Proficiency with electronic health record documentation.
