About the role

The HRBP provides advanced HR support and guidance across multiple functional areas, including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and HRIS systems. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, handling complex HR matters.  This role requires a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to work independently while delivering high-quality HR support across multiple areas of the employee lifecycle in a fast-paced environment.

The preferred location for this role is Sioux Falls, SD. It is performed on-site.

What you will do

  • Serves as a primary HR contact for managers and employees, providing guidance on general employee inquiries, benefits, employee relations issues, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Independently manages complex employee relations matters, documentation, and recommendations.
  • Ensures consistent and compliant application of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws across the organization.
  • Coaches leaders on effective people management, employee engagement, and risk-based decision making.
  • Conducts full-cycle recruitment for all roles, including professional, operational, and leadership roles with a focus on role clarity, candidate assessment and long-term fit.
  • Facilitates new employee orientation and onboarding initiatives; advises leaders on performance and early retention strategies to ensure successful integration of new hires.
  • Maintains and updates the Employee Handbook and related HR policies to reflect regulatory changes and organizational needs; assists with policy development, revisions, and training.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, state specific requirements).
  • Supports performance management programs, including goal setting, annual reviews, and corrective action processes.
  • Serves as a knowledgeable resource to leaders and employees regarding benefits programs and workplace policies.
  • Assists with benefits administration and works with vendors to resolve escalated issues.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance employee understanding, utilization, and perception of benefits programs.
  • Maintains accurate employee records and HRIS data integrity and uses workforce data, trends, and insights to support leader decision-making and identify organizational risks or opportunities.
  • Contributes ideas, as well as leads and supports HR initiatives and special projects to meet organizational goals and provide continuous improvements.
  • Delivers HR expertise and support to the HR team, business leaders and employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will need

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR experience with an emphasis in Employee Relations and Talent Acquisition and Recruiting.
  • HR certification - SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Financial services experience preferred.
