This role sits in the Business Applications and Ecosystem Services (BA&ES), part of the Vehicle Cloud and Mobile organisation. BA&ES designs, builds, and operates the core applications and ecosystem capabilities that underpin many of Ford’s digital experiences. We deliver innovative, trusted global solutions that other teams rely on, shipping small, incremental changes to adapt to evolving customer expectations while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and reliability. Our teams continuously build, deploy, and operate foundational platforms and services across the full delivery lifecycle. By providing robust, fit for purpose technology, BA&ES enables product teams across Ford to move faster with confidence, focus on their specific customer initiatives, and deliver value to market efficiently and safely
Software Engineering Managers are engineers who lead through technical understanding and strong people leadership. You will work on large, complex systems alongside engineers and domain experts across Ford’s digital organisation. As a manager, you will lead and support a team responsible for building and operating foundational digital capabilities that power experiences in and around our vehicles. Responsibilities
What you'll do...
Lead and support software engineering teams to deliver reliable, high quality software products and services from concept through production and ongoing operation.
Manage, coach, and grow software engineers through regular feedback, career development discussions, and performance management, fostering a healthy, inclusive, and high performing team culture.
Partner closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to ensure customer needs are well understood and translated into valuable, well designed solutions.
Provide technical leadership by contributing to design and architectural discussions, reviewing proposals, and ensuring engineering decisions align with long term platform and ecosystem goals.
Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and the delivery pipeline, improving flow, quality, reliability, and security while reducing cycle time.
Encourage pragmatic, cross disciplinary problem solving to address complex business challenges, balancing technical excellence with delivery outcomes.
Help define, evolve, and promote engineering principles, standards, and best practices that improve consistency and effectiveness across the organisation.
Share knowledge and perspective across teams and organisations, reducing silos and enabling teams to learn from one another’s successes and challenges.
Build a learning organization by promoting experimentation, reflection, and continuous improvement at both team and organizational levels.

Qualifications
You'll have...
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Significant professional experience in software engineering, with a strong foundation in designing, building, and operating production software systems.
Proven experience in people leadership, including managing, coaching, and developing engineers and leading teams to successfully deliver software products or platforms to production.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership through design and architectural discussions, while enabling teams to make sound engineering decisions.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
