Castings Utility Operator


Bedford, PA


Shift: 1st, 7AM - 3PM, Monday - Friday


 


Purpose: Perform a variety of operations/duties at the Castings operation including primary daily assignments and as a replacement for co-workers.


 


Knowledge and Experience:



  • A high school diploma or general equivalence diploma

  • Completion of basic math, blueprint reading and gage reading training

  • A forklift operator’s license

  • The ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisor and co-workers


 


Key Job Accountabilities:





    • Perform pre-operation checks for machines. Perform safety inspections required for individual machines and associated equipment

    • Preheat and close molds

    • Assist in all phases of pouring molten metal into molds

    • Operate shake-out and shot blast machines

    • Separate castings, break up molds, and saw as necessary

    • Inspect, grind, and finish castings

    • Return sand and flask equipment to the molding area

    • Cut, grind and shape rise sleeves

    • Load and unload trucks

    • Fill in for absent molders

    • Inspect and gauge produced parts to blueprint specifications

    • Process shop orders to meet established due dates

    • Responsible for cycle counts and management of WIP and components

    • Participate in lean events and utilize lean processes in daily duties

    • Perform daily required TPM or associated equipment

    • Perform daily 5S activities for work area

    • Perform daily activities associated with gathering and posting established metrics

    • Accurate and timely recording of required data
