POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Teacher will assist the Preschool Director in providing direction for the program and staff in the classroom and implement YMCA program state approved curriculum in the classroom. They will work cooperatively with other teachers and administrators to carry out the Preschool mission and vision throughout the year. The incumbent will provide quality programming to children and parents that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, faith, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
- Able to work on site year around Monday through Friday 40 hrs.
- Works with supervisor to implement curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Work with supervisor to plan and implement summer camp programs.
- Prepares and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Conducts parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication
with parents. - Maintains program site and equipment.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
- Able to provide work direction to Preschool Assistants and Volunteers in the classroom.
- Observes DHS Rule 3 regulations for a Licensed Child Care Center.
- Follow all YMCA policy and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs). Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time. The ability to calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation.
