Summary of Position:
Assist with instruction of Firearms Course for Law Enforcement Academy recruits.

The start date of this position is August 31, 2026.

Required Education:
Successful completion of MCOLES recognized police firearms instructor training course.
 


Required Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years of law enforcement experience or relevant professional training and experience in firearms instruction.
 


Required Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Michigan or National Police Firearms Instructor (NRA) or FBI Firearms Instructor.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Report to Law Enforcement Academy Director.

Instruct students in firearms safety, handling and live fire on a firearms range for handguns, rifles and shotguns.

Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
