Description

Position: Substitute Nurse Plano and North Campus



Reports to: Divisional Principal and Director of HR



Classification: Hourly, Variable Hour

Duties and Responsibilities:



Maintains certification in CPR, and vision, hearing, and spinal screening



Maintain safe and clean working environment



Maintain confidentiality of health records of each student



Adhere to all health and OSHA regulations pertaining to the distribution of all prescription and non-prescription medicine and communicate any health concerns to parent(s) and/or school personnel. Administers medications according to established policies/procedures



Assists in the control of communicable diseases through early detection, surveillance, and reporting with follow-up of communicable diseases



Acts as a resource in promoting health careers and provides leadership and/or support for staff wellness programs



Provides direct care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and establish health protocols



Serves as a health advocate for students



Compiles and maintains computerized reports, records, and documents required including clinic records and accurate, updated health records on students





Qualifications/Skills:



Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program preferred



Current valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas preferred



AHA BLS CPR/AED certification



Three years of experience working as an RN preferred





Physical and Mental Requirements and Work Environment Conditions:



Talking expressing ideas by means of the spoken word to convey instructions to students/parents and co-workers accurately, loudly or quickly



Hearing ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and to receive detailed information through oral communication



Standing and walking for sustained periods of time moving about on foot for lecturing and monitoring students in the classroom, as well as throughout the building and playgrounds



Stooping, crouching, crawling and kneeling ability to assist small children with various needs



Climbing, Reaching, Pushing, Pulling and Lifting ability to pick up small children as need as well as for classroom set up purposes; occasional lifting between 30 50 pounds



Repetitive motion of the wrists, hands and fingers



Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and reading



Environment is primarily indoors in a classroom environment as well as intermittent outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold



Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
