    TITLE:  SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL COUNSELOR

    DEFINITION:

    The staff member will recognize the warning signs of various mental health disorders in students.   Assess the risk of, intervene in, respond and prevent youth suicidal behavior.  Provide direct services to students, school staff and working collaboratively with community service and long term therapy providers.  A staff member responsible for supporting the social/emotional needs of high school students in their personal development to support the learning process.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1.   The individual must be appropriately certified and/or licensed as a Licensed Practicing Counselor � LPC with DORA license or a Licensed Social Worker

        with DORA license.

    2.   Experience in mediation and small group counseling to address social/emotional issues.

    3.   Strong knowledge of ethics

    REPORTS TO:

    The building principal. 

    JOB GOALS:

    1.   Creation and implementation of prevention programs focused on social emotional issues.

    2.   Skilled and experienced in mediation. 

    3.   Maximize student learning by meeting students' social/emotional needs
