Description

The Radiology Technologist performs a variety of imaging procedures to ensure accurate radiologic diagnosis while prioritizing patient safety and care. Acts as the primary patient interface during imaging exams, providing excellent customer service every time. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (QCI) activities and adheres to department protocols and safety standards.  

Requirements

Graduate of certified radiologic technology educational program. 

ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist preferred, eligible candidates must pass AART exam within one year of employment. 

Valid Wyoming state licensure required. 

Current BLS certification required. 

Minimum two years clinical experience at college level for registry eligible candidates. 

Summary

  1. Perform quality radiographic examinations according to department protocols. 

  1. Review and verify radiologic study requests for appropriateness and completeness before exams. 

  1. Interview patients, assess conditions, and identify special needs or contraindications; alert radiologist or physician as appropriate. 

  1. Explain procedures and prepare patients for imaging and fluoroscopy exams. 

  1. Assist radiologists or physicians in advanced imaging procedures. 

  1. Ensure proper documentation such as x-ray consent and pregnancy forms are completed. 

  1. Administer and prepare contrast materials following sterile technique guidelines. 

  1. Utilize anatomical knowledge to position patients accurately ensuring maximum diagnostic image quality. 

  1. Operate radiographic equipment, select technical factors to minimize radiation dose (ALARA principle), and ensure proper shielding and collimation. 

  1. Maintain equipment and rooms in clean, functional condition; report malfunctions or repair needs promptly. 

  1. Perform clerical duties including pre-authorization validation, patient data verification, exam documentation, and burning discs upon request. 

  1. Attend safety training; demonstrate knowledge of safety protocols including exposure control and proper use of protective equipment. 

  1. Practice hand hygiene and wear gloves when handling patients. 

  1. Maintain a professional, respectful demeanor with patients, families, staff, and visitors. 

  1. Participate actively in department goals, meetings, and communications. 

  1. Work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team to meet operational objectives. 

  1. Behave and dress in a professional and courteous manner consistent with the facilities Standards of Behavior.
