Description
Sewers will operate sewing machines to join cut fabric parts to fabricate upholstery coverings for upholstered furniture. May also sew pull bands into seams of upholstery parts.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Assembles fabrics for sofas, chairs and ottomans using sewing machine: Positions precut fabrics using sewing machine.
- Make the best use of your time and resources available to ensure you adhere to the set schedule for completion.
- Communicate with Department supervisor or lead person on quality issues or bad materials.
- Work closely with other employees on the line to maintain a close team dynamic daily.
- Apply knowledge of upholstery and sewing to assembly fabrics
- Perform your job safely while following all safety guidelines and keeping work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Follow production guidelines and specifications.
- Follow health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED helpful.
- At least two years' production line experience in a related industry.

- Previous experience in a similar role and related industry

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing industrial setting. The employee may be exposed to both indoors and outdoors. Light to Moderate exposure to sun, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, biological hazards, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials and chemicals, machinery, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and electric currents.

Performing the duties of this job involves frequently sitting at a sewing table with ability to move around within the department as necessary. Light to heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and light carrying of fabric to be sewn. Frequent bending and reaching.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position requiring the ability to work long hours as business needs require.
