Summary
Canyon Ridge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as an Assistant Coach for the Girls Varsity Basketball team. This seasonal position is ideal for someone with a strong background in basketball and a commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the court. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to foster a positive team environment, promote athletic excellence, and encourage personal growth among team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing daily practice sessions, ensuring skill development and team cohesion.
- Help develop game strategies and prepare the team for competitive play.
- Provide individual and group instruction to improve players' skills and understanding of the game.
- Monitor and assess player performance, providing constructive feedback to enhance their development.
- Support the Head Coach in organizing team meetings, player evaluations, and game day preparations.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff to create a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong work ethic among team members.
- Assist in the coordination of team fundraising activities and community outreach initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all school and league policies, as well as safety protocols during practices and games.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach, players, and parents.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or willingness to obtain before the season starts.
- A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
- A high school diploma is required; a degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field is a plus.
- Must pass a background check as required by school district policy.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
