Title:  Certified Medical Assistant (MA)

Department: NNU Health, Inc.

Supervisor: Clinical Lead or Administrator

Status: Full time

Work Hours: Hired to support a FT provider (match hours)

Pay Range: Negotiable, Depending on experience and tenure.

Travel: No Travel Required


Job Summary

Under the supervision of the practitioner and in collaboration with other team members, the MA provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the professional standards of care and state and federal regulations. The MA role requires multi-tasking, organization, and adaptability. The MA will support the providers, lead staff and effectively communicate with patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with providers, patients, patient families, visitors and co-workers in a professional and confident manner.
  • Provides high quality care to all patients while assessing and identifying patients’ needs.
  • Implements and monitors the patient’s medical plan and treatment.
  • Completes all nursing documentation: assessments, orders, progress notes, flowsheets, consents, and any assigned tasks and ensures documentation accurately reflects the services provided.
  • Administers medications and injections, draws blood, removes sutures and staples, and completes necessary forms according to clinic policies and procedures to ensure services are completed according to coding and billing guidelines.
  • Obtains patients vital signs.
  • Provides ongoing patient education under the direction of the provider.
  • Prepares and cleans treatment rooms and medical instruments.
  • Properly triages patients according to presented signs and symptoms (in person or via telephone) to assist the provider in ongoing care.
  • Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Maintains clinical inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and placing orders.
  • Prepares and cleans patient exam rooms and medical instruments.
  • Initiates emergency measures when necessary.
  • Light cleaning duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Current MA Certification
  • CPR Certification
  • Two years’ experience in a clinic setting
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • EHR experience preferred
