Job Description

JOB TITLE: LOGISTICS SPECIALIST I 

DEPARTMENT: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT 

REPORTS TO:  SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST II

CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

LOCATION: HOLLYWOOD, MD

STATUS: FULL TIME

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Logistics Specialist will perform a wide variety of tasks relating to the incoming, outgoing shipments and Property Management of materials, merchandise or equipment.  This role will coordinate shipments and own the pack-out of all production products leaving the facility.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Set up all logistics and transportation for production products using internal shipping methods or working with 3rd party vendors to ensure timely arrival of all products to the end destination.
  • Create all hazmat documentation to IATA and DMDG standards
  • Handle shipping cost estimates with various transportation companies.
  • Create and maintain all commercial invoices, packing list, shippers letters of intent, and Bill of ladings.
  • Procurement of final packaging to include Milspec crates and mil spec UID labeling 
  • Create and maintain pack-out verification sheets for each product sold to ensure it is clear what is apart of each assembly.
  • Develop and add to the current standard operating procedures for logistics.
  • Manage all final pack-outs working with quality and the customer to ensure all documentation is complete.
  • Arrange return RMA shipments with internal departments and external customers.
  • Manage the national stock number creation for all products.
  • Help streamline and improve supply chain operations to meet company goals.  
  • Supports customer logistics requirements through the analysis, organization, planning, and administration of various phases of day-to-day provisioning, spares, and/or activities
  • Assist with training in all aspects of logistics, providing input for instructional documentation and implementing processes
  • Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required. 



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, with 0-2 years of demonstrated related experience. An A.S. with 3 years of relevant experience may be considered or 5 years of related experience in lieu of education
  • 3 years' experience shipping and receiving material OCONUS.
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • Self-drive with strong documentation, organizational and communication skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Logistics background with experience in international shipments and experience in ITAR and HTS Requirements. 
  • Previous experience with shipping ITAR related items. 
  • Previous experience with IATA regulations and dangerous goods shipping. 
  • Supply Chain logistics background and experience.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.


The annual base salary range for this position is $48,000 to $67,000 Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education and training, job-related knowledge and skills, the scope and level of responsibility of the position, internal equity, and market/business considerations. The listed range is a general guideline and may vary based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and work location, where applicable.
