    The Wethersfield Public Schools partner with the community and families in fostering our student's ongoing education in a safe and secure learning environment.     Wethersfield Public Schools is looking for Behavior Specialists to assist special education students and work under the supervision of a special education teacher/supervisor for the Extended School Year Program. 
     
    Position: Behavior Specialist
    School: District
    Start Date: Summer 2026
    Compensation: Ten-month employees will be paid their regular hourly rate of pay for this Summer assignment when they are performing essentially the same duties as during the school year.

    Note:  Employees who serve as a behavior specialist during the school year will be paid at their regular hourly rate if selected to fill one of these openings. Unless otherwise deemed by the District to be fully qualified and trained as a behavior specialist, employees who serve as a paraprofessional during the school year will be paid at their regular paraprofessional hourly rate if selected to fill one of these openings.

    Qualifications
    Applicants must have previous work experience relating to working with special education students with a wide range of disabilities.

    Program Dates
    July 6, 2026 � July 30, 2026 (Monday � Thursday)
     
    The available positions are as follows:
    1. Elementary and Secondary Behavior Specialists: Assists with special education students in the academic skills development program. 
    Dates: July 6, 2026 � July 30, 2026 (Monday � Thursday) 
    Hours:  8:30am � 11:30am
     
    2. Preschool Behavior Specialists: Assists with special education students at the Preschool level.  
    Dates: July 6, 2026 � July 30, 2026 (Monday � Thursday)
    Hours:  9:00am � 11:30am
      
    3. Camp Sunrise: Staff to work with Wethersfield Public School students at Camp Sunrise in Glastonbury.
    Anticipated Dates: TBD start date � July 31, 2026 (Monday � Friday)
    Hours: 9:00am � 3:00pm (additional hours may be available to support daily bus travel) 
     
    Staffing Needs: Staffing numbers will be determined based on ESY enrollments.
