Commercial Loan Officer

Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in-office / 2 days remote
Salary: $74,684–$93,355


Position Purpose

The Commercial Loan Officer provides ethical, professional, friendly, and high-quality service to members. This role supports business members by offering guidance on business services, underwriting commercial loans, and making sound lending decisions that support both the member and the Credit Union.

This position also demonstrates CWCU’s core competencies by anticipating member needs, communicating clearly, and collaborating with internal and external partners to enhance the member experience and deliver results.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Loan Origination & Credit Analysis (35%)

·       Interview and consult with potential borrowers; complete credit reviews

·       Analyze creditworthiness and develop repayment structures for approval

·       Apply knowledge of legal entities and loan documentation to determine eligibility

Loan Portfolio Management & Monitoring (25%)

·       Develop, maintain, and grow the commercial loan portfolio

·       Monitor business loans to ensure timely and thorough ongoing review

·       Partner with commercial borrowers during early delinquency to support resolution

Loan Processing & Documentation (20%)

·       Prepare and maintain business loan files and documents, ensuring compliance

·       Review applications and documentation for completeness and accuracy

·       Coordinate closing requirements and prepare closing documentation

Departmental Oversight & Strategy (10%)

·       Provide day-to-day oversight of department workflow

·       Recommend policy, guideline, and procedure improvements as needed

·       Provide feedback and insights to the Director of Business Services

Compliance, Reporting & Training (10%)

·       Ensure compliance with lending regulations and documentation requirements

·       Maintain reports, spreadsheets, and related loan records

·       Attend training and stay current on policies, regulations, and services


Qualifications

·       Strong planning skills, financial acumen, and analytical capability

·       Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database systems

·       Ability to manage multiple priorities with interruptions

·       Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial concepts

·       Able to manage schedule with minimal supervision; flexibility to meet member needs

·       Familiarity with ACH and merchant services preferred

·       Knowledge of State/Federal regulations applicable to commercial lending

·       Professional presence and ability to represent CWCU to internal and external partners

·       Strong organization, time management, problem-solving, customer service, and communication skills

·       Proficient verbal and written English communication skills

·       Ability to assess and implement organizational changes


Education & Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field OR equivalent demonstrated experience

·       Minimum 2 years commercial loan underwriting experience required; 5 years preferred
