Job Description

Summary:

The Housing Manager is responsible for assisting the KO First Nations communities in the technical application and administration of the On-Reserve housing program. The Housing Manager will assist with KO communities Housing Managers to provide knowledge and expertise in programs for the communities. The Housing Manager will assist with policies, procedures and standards that are in place and look for areas of improvement. This position will also support the implementation and use of housing management database software including developing community housing lists and integrating visual mapping and asset management information systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Housing Managers in the Communities
  • Identify funding opportunities for the Communities and prepare applications for the funding
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all housing assets in the Communities
  • Work with KO housing software program and the transfer and input relevant information into housing database
  • Provide regular and consistent guidance and advice to the Housing Managers in the Communities
  • Establish acceptable policies for move-in inspections with Housing Managers in the Communities
  • Work with Housing Managers in the Communities to Establish housing inspections for renovations
  • Establish and update a current Housing Managers list of all the Communities
  • Establish a list of Vendors and Contractors for the Communities
  • Ability to prepare and deliver housing workshops both technical and administrative.
  • Assist communities complete reporting requirements from funding agencies and/ or government organizations; specifically ISC and CMHC
  • Knowledge of and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Other assigned tasks by KOPW management

Required Credentials & Skills

  • High School graduate.
  • Related college diploma as asset.
  • Two (2) years of Housing related Experience
  • Knowledge of CMHC and ISC housing programs
  • Experience working with First Nation or Indigenous organization and knowledge of structure, culture and traditions of the communities.
  • Working knowledge of Federal/Provincial regulations and legislations but not limited to National Building Code and the Ontario Building Code.
  • Awareness of housing project planning, carpentry and house construction process and renovations processes. 
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage workload, multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional integrity and professionalism including maintaining confidentiality.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong team player with excellent team building skills.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with communities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid G driver license and clean driving record.
  • Able to travel occasionally to communities and other KO office locations; at times utilizing smaller passenger aircraft.

Salary $50,000 - 60,000
