The schedule is Monday-Friday and occasional evenings/weekends.


GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARY

Supports the mortgage loan origination and processing functions to gain thorough understanding of investor loan programs, applicable guidelines and regulations; acquires training to become proficient in loan origination and processing activities and assists senior mortgage loan originators with marketing efforts and building relationships with clients and centers of influence (COIs) by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Communicates with prospective borrowers and mortgage loan originators to gather information in support of mortgage loan applications; analyzes complex financial documentation to verify and calculate income following established guidelines and parameters.
  2. Inputs loan information into loan origination software, orders and reviews credit reports and Desktop Underwriter (DU) findings; identifies areas of concern, irregularities, or variances from program guidelines.
  3. Orders and tracks preliminary title reports, appraisals, proof of hazard insurance and other pertinent documentation; reviews the documentation to identify deficiencies and/or inconsistencies of information and resolves the issues by consulting with mortgage loan originators and/or supervisor.
  4. Engages in mortgage sales program by assisting mortgage loan originators with creating prospect lists and marketing strategies; tracks lead referrals and maintains past client database; attends and contributes to onsite and offsite sales presentations.
  5. Prepares initial loan disclosures in accordance with regulatory requirements and prepares complete loan file for processing.
  6. Assists mortgage loan originators and processors with gathering documentation and other information for the satisfaction of loan approval conditions; acts as a primary contact for borrowers, COIs (real estate agents, builders, financial professionals), and affiliates (title/escrow representatives, insurance agents) in both customer service and loan origination matters; assists with marketing efforts for events and campaigns.
  7. Acquires subject matter expertise with respect to investor underwriting and compliance guidelines.
  8. Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

Three years’ banking, mortgage, real estate, business or related experience of which eighteen months are sales and relationship building experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience with at least eighteen months of sales and relationship building experience.

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; knowledge of various mortgage loan programs.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Required skills and abilities include: ability to deliver excellent customer service, identify customer needs and concerns, follow through, be self-directed and self-motivated, think and act independently, think critically, manage time effectively and prioritize. Ability to keyboard 35 wpm, operate a 10-key calculator, use spreadsheet and word processing software required.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. Ability to provide a thorough explanation of documents required for processing a mortgage loan.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as charges, payoffs, discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING SKILLS:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variable in standardized situations.
