Job Description

About the Department

Responsible for the overall maintenance of the buildings, grounds and security of the Campus.

Assessment:  Contributions to assessment for continuous quality improvement of the academic support area(s) within assigned scope of responsibilities.   

Position Duties

1)Advanced maintenance of the campus buildings to include preventative maintenance, lighting of the buildings and parking lots, minor plumbing, electrical and HVAC troubleshooting/repair, including maintaining and monitoring and adjust system as needed. Works closely with outside contractors.
2)Maintaining the grounds of the College including mowing, trimming, and litter. Also caring for all planting beds by planting, weeding, pesticide application, and mulching. In the winter, snow removal consisting of plowing, salting and clearing of sidewalks.
3)Provide daily and at intervals deep cleaning of the College buildings to include emptying trash, cleaning the floors and restrooms. Also, to monitor cleaning supplies inventory and ordering as needed.
4)Other duties as assigned and arise with examples following:
  • Provides an extension of leadership in absence of supervisor
  • Works directly with supervision to provide guidance and mentoring to Building attendant I team members as needed.
  • Planning daily activities
  • Small engine work and maintenance of mowers and power equipment
  • Assisting all areas of the College facilities operations as needed.
  • Storeroom and delivery coverage

5)Responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of our campus community to include Faculty, Staff, Students, Visitors, and Constituents.  Works with local first responders in the event of an emergency when requested.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for setting up/maintaining community rooms
  2. Maintaining company vehicles and equipment
  3. Occasional transportation of items/equipment to and/or from campuses

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to provide preventative maintenance and maintenance of commercial HVAC systems, building, and grounds
  • Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to operate power tools and facility management equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to stand a maximum of 10 hours per day on concrete/tile floors
  • Must be able to withstand seasonal temperatures
  • Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License
  • Must possess basic computer and technology skills including HVAC controls
