Brief Job Overview/Summary
The Student Mentor is a 6-week position with the GOALS GEAR UP Summer Academy. This role will provide social, emotional, and academic support to students in grades 6–11 (rising 7th–12th grade) throughout the Summer Enrichment Program from June 29th to August 6th, 2026. The role includes engaging in mentoring activities, academic support, facilitating workshops, and assisting in program logistics. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in program planning, college readiness, leadership, and working with youth.
Mentor Training - June 23-25, 2026
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the immediate supervision of the GOALS GEAR UP Assistant Director, the Student Mentor will be responsible for the following:
Mentorship & Student Support
• Mentor students in grades 6–11 (rising 7th–12th).
• Assist with academic assignments and foster positive study habits.
• Support social-emotional development and maintain student engagement.
Workshop Facilitation
• Co-create and present social-emotional and college readiness workshops.
• Step in to lead workshops as needed.
Program Participation & Support
• Participate in all GOALS programming, including college tours and events.
• Assist with end-of-program activities like the Closing Ceremony.
Collaboration & Communication
• Communicate with counselors and Lead Mentors about student progress/concerns.
• Serve as liaison between students, faculty, and GOALS staff.
Additional Responsibilities
• Perform duties assigned by the Director and Counselors.
Required Qualifications:

• Current Stockton University undergraduate student.
• Available June 29 – August 6, 2026, with flexibility for additional training dates
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with mentoring, tutoring, or teaching.
• Familiarity with social-emotional learning and college readiness.
