What We OfferNovant Health Policy Fellows are graduate students or upper-level undergraduate students in fields like Public Policy, Public Health, and Healthcare Administration. Over the course of academic year-long experience, Novant Health Policy Fellows participate in health policy research, advocacy, and professional development to gain insights into the legislative and regulatory challenges faced by clinicians and health systems, as well as the necessary skills to lead in today’s regulated healthcare environment. Primarily remote, the program does include site visits to Novant Health facilities and other relevant sites such as the North Carolina General Assembly. This is a paid position. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions |
- Must be available for two semesters, starting 09/07/2025.
- Must easily be able to attend virtual meetings.
- Must have transportation available for 2-3 site visits.
- Participate actively in all scheduled fellowship activities, including orientation, career exploration sessions, professional development workshops, and departmental shadowing experiences.
- Engage in lunch and learn with assigned Novant Health professionals and apply guidance to support personal and career development.
- Observe and learn from clinical and non‑clinical staff to gain exposure to healthcare roles, workflows, and environments, especially through the various site visits throughout the course of the fellowship
- Complete assigned tasks, projects, and book discussions designed to build workforce readiness and professional skills.
- Communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—with peers, mentors, and team members across varying levels of authority and diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrate professional behavior, including punctuality, appropriate conduct, confidentiality, and adherence to Novant Health policies and expectations, especially as it relates to meeting attendance in a virtual work environment.
- Utilize basic technology tools, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and email, to complete assignments, participate in virtual meetings, and communicate with program coordinators.
- Manage time and responsibilities effectively, prioritizing tasks and adapting to changing needs in a fast‑paced environment.
- Apply critical thinking skills to participate in discussions, problem‑solve, and reflect on career interests and learning experiences.
- Collaborate with other fellows and Novant Health team members as appropriate, contributing to a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, including patient information if applicable, organizational details, or staff interactions observed during the internship.
- Demonstrate customer service skills when interacting with team members, leaders, physicians, and visitors, representing the program with professionalism.
- Show initiative and curiosity, ask questions, seek clarification, and engage in opportunities to learn about different healthcare roles.
- Ensure timeliness in any associated time-keeping responsibilities associated with the role.

What We're Looking For- Education: High School or GED, required.
- 1 Year Preferred 1 year of experience in health policy, public policy, or government relations
