Volunteer Coach Job Description:


 


South Bend Community School Corporation Volunteer Coaches play a crucial role in developing the skills, confidence, and sportsmanship of our participants and supporting our paid coaching staff. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to make a positive impact on the community and gain valuable experience in coaching and mentorship.


 


 


Key Responsibilities:



  • Plan, organize, and deliver engaging and age-appropriate training sessions for SBCSC Athletics that focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship under direction of the Athletics Department.

  • Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive team environment that encourages personal and athletic growth.

  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and organization staff to provide updates on progress, schedules, and any concerns.

  • Monitor and assess participant performance, providing constructive feedback and motivation to help individuals achieve their personal and team goals.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices, games, and related activities.

  • Assist with the coordination of team events, competitions, and community outreach initiatives.

  • Promote the organization's values and contribute to a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion.


Qualifications:



  • Previous experience in the specific sport or activity as a player or coach is preferred but not required.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire youth and/or adult participants.

  • Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.

  • Reliable and punctual, with a genuine interest in volunteerism and community service.

  • Willingness to undergo training and adhere to the organization's coaching philosophy and safety protocols.

  • Must pass a background check in accordance with SBCSC Board Policy.
