Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Controls Engineer to join our team in Gainesville, GA

 

Drive the next generation of Kubota manufacturing by designing, programming, and deploying advanced automated and mechatronic systems. This role blends handson engineering, system integration, and continuous improvement to strengthen safety, productivity, and reliability across our production operations. You’ll work directly with crossfunctional teams to bring modern automation solutions to life on the factory floor.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, modify, and optimize PLC programs (AllenBradley, Mitsubishi) for highperformance production equipment.
  • Partner with manufacturing engineers to design, specify, build, test, and commission new mechatronic systems that improve throughput and operator safety.
  • Engineer robust controls solutions by researching new technologies, evaluating equipment, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams.
  • Lead and support maintenance technicians in troubleshooting complex controls issues and reducing downtime.
  • Analyze recurring equipment problems, identify root causes, and implement longterm corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with automation suppliers; evaluate new vendors and technologies that can advance Kubota’s capabilities.
  • Create detailed equipment specifications, manage procurement, and oversee installation of automation and controls hardware.
  • Integrate automation systems with Kubota’s MES platform in collaboration with IT.
  • Develop and maintain Kubota’s controls standards, ensuring consistency and best practices across the plant.
  • Produce and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, operator instructions, and risk assessments.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, design reviews, and installation plans from concept through launch.
  • Support the development of preventive maintenance strategies for automated equipment.
  • Train manufacturing and maintenance teams on new systems and processes.
  • Communicate system performance, failures, and improvement opportunities with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies and industry standards (NEC, NFPA, IEC).
  • Support operations as needed during offshift or weekend activities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture by assisting teammates when priorities shift.

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree in automation engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics, or related field.

OR

3+ years of industry experience in software development, programming, or engineering/IT disciplines.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role blends office and onfloor engineering work. You’ll regularly interact with production equipment, requiring the ability to stand, walk, use hand tools, and read detailed schematics.
