Description

Ideal Candidate: is flexible to work events and peak days, with the ability to assist in various areas such as security, event support, and parking.

Shift Type: Varied; Monday through Thursday OFF 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

  • Ensures the integrity of gambling, count room and cash handling procedures
  • Patrols the Casino and adjacent areas for suspicious and illegal activities
  • Handle, count, verify gaming chips in multiple denominations
  • Ensures all guest and company vehicles are parked properly and in their designated locations
  • Prepare and maintain essential paperwork and reports
  • Accepts found property and tags for safekeeping
  • Assists with locating lost property and files report if not found
  • Computer data entry of required information
  • Conduct property inspection tours
  • Reports all gaming regulation violations to appropriate departments and agencies
  • Reports all violations of internal controls and company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Escort guests to their car when requested
  • Transport drop boxes to count area
  • Transport guests via company vehicle as necessary
  • Watches for and report any potential safety hazards to supervisor
  • Quickly responds to and handles matters involving difficult guests or employees
  • Quickly responds to and contacts local law enforcement, fire department or other emergency personnel in matters involving medical emergencies experienced by guests or employees
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires knowledge and ability to drive a motor vehicle

  • Must possess the ability to operate all tools and equipment utilized by the Security Department

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

·         High School Diploma or equivalent.  A minimum of 1-2 years experience working as a casino security guard or security guard related field preferred.  Experience in law enforcement or the armed forces is preferred.

 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Strong observation skills; ability to complete tasks while maintaining attentive monitoring of the surroundings at all times

·         Must possess the proven ability to quickly assess,  gain control of, and defuse, incidents/encounters with difficult guests or employees

·         Ability to perceive, identify and monitor potential conflicts developing amongst guests and/or employees and intercede before a situation escalates

·         Working knowledge and complete comprehension of security officer practices and procedures

·         Working knowledge of the New Hampshire Revised Statutes and laws governing Citizens Arrest

·         Detailed knowledge of the operation of security equipment

 

AGE AND GAMING: 

21 years of age or above

  

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand the English language required.  The ability to read and understand documents and diagrams in written English form is required. Ability to respond to inquiries, complaints and emergencies.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

General math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense judgment at all times through the course of completing your duties and tasks as assigned and when dealing with hostile, intoxicated or angry guests or employees.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear.  The employee is also regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to inspect, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and lift and carry, push, pull or move items up to 75 pounds.  The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.   

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The work environment requires work in varying levels of crowds, noise and smoke, the severity of which depends upon customer volume.  The work environment requires working both indoors in a climate-controlled environment and outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme cold, windy, wet and humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to loud. 

The work environment may expose the employee to risks associated with resolving issues with difficult guests or employees and on occasions when a guest or employee suffers a medical emergency.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees must be able to work varying-schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.

Summary

Reports directly to the Security Manager. The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests, employees and company assets inside the facility as well as the facility grounds. Employee is required to maintain a current New Hampshire Driver’s License, CPR, First Aid, AED and Blood-Borne Pathogens certifications.
