Job Description

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for manufacturing processes, equipment, and products. This role ensures that all technical content meets industry standards and supports production efficiency, compliance, and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and quality assurance to gather technical information and ensure accuracy.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and understandable content for various audiences.
  • Ensure documentation complies with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Manage document control systems and maintain version integrity.
  • Support continuous improvement by updating documentation to reflect process changes and new technologies.
  • Create visual aids such as diagrams, flowcharts, and illustrations to enhance understanding.
  • Conduct reviews and audits of documentation for completeness and accuracy.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and terminology.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, or specialized authoring software).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ISO standards and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD drawings and engineering schematics.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.

 

Work Environment/Safety: 

Non-controlled environment.  Exposed to typical of any manufacturing environment.  Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Overall Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
