Course number and title: HUN310Y1 – Advanced Hungarian


Course description: A synchronic and diachronic survey of the Hungarian language. Conceptualized summary of grammar, syntax, and stylistics; studies in the genesis and historical stages of the language. Brief consideration of living dialects, the basics of poetics; selected problems in translation and language teaching. Readings in Hungarian.

Minimum qualifications: MA degree with at least two years teaching experience in Canadian University.


 


Preferred Qualifications: Applicants for this position must have native command of Hungarian language. Knowledge of pedagogical methods of second language teaching.  At least five years of experience in teaching Hungarian language in a Canadian University.


 


Salary:


$ 19,994.95, inclusive of 4% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer I)
$ 21,398.43, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer I LT)
$ 21,398.43, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer II)
$ 21,907.92, inclusive of 6% vacation pay  (Sessional Lecturer II LT)
$ 21,907.92 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer III)
$ 22,457.80, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer III LT)

Brief Description of Duties: planning and setting goals of the course, preparing lectures, teaching in class, holding office hours, designing and administering tests as appropriate, reading and grading course papers, providing students with adequate feedback.
