    The Highland Local School District has an opening for a first grade classroom teacher beginning in the 2026/2027 School Year.

    CERTIFICATION:  Early Childhood PK � 3 licence, Elementary K - 5 license, or equivalent Ohio teaching license
    Reading Endorsement K-12 or comparable is preferred; 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Appropriate teaching certificate or license required.
    2. Strong undergraduate grade point average � (preferable above 3.0/B average) from the institution granting the bachelor's diploma with demonstrated expertise in both content and pedagogy.
    3. Demonstrates understanding of developmental characteristics and needs of early learners.
    4. Documented performance in the classroom as a successful teacher or pre-service educator.
    5. Demonstrates ability to use multiple measures of data to inform instruction.
    6. Uses formative assessments to check for understanding during instruction.
    7. Differentiates for students at all levels of learning to promote high student achievement.
    8. Works collaboratively with colleagues on a teacher-based team to promote student achievement.

    SALARY:
    The person selected to fill this position will be placed at the appropriate step of the salary schedule contained in the negotiated agreement between the HEA and the Highland Board of Education.
