JOB TITLE:            Mine Operations Senior Supervisor (409)      
DEPARTMENT:     Mine Operations 
LOCATION:            Robinson Nevada Mining Company - Ruth, NV
PAY GRADE:          7
POSITION REPORTS TO: Mine Operations Superintendent
ROTATING SHIFT:     Yes ☐      No ☒

Purpose & Scope of The Position:  

The Mine Operations Senior Supervisor manages a crew of approximately 63 equipment operators and two supervisors. This includes supervision of all associated mining-related activities, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.  The senior supervisor proactively coordinates activities and resources in conjunction with other departments in order to comply with priorities and the objectives of the published mine plan (Mid to Short Term Tactical Role).

Job Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Follow and enforce company and department safety and occupational health policies and MSHA regulations.   
  • Responsible for continued adherence to RNMC Core Values – Zero Harm, Teamwork, Results Driven, Accountability and Courage.
  • Responsible for employee adherence to RNMC Rules for Life.
  • Responsible for employee adherence to all Operations SOPs and Standards.
  • Responsible for management of all required employee documentation and benefit allocations.
  • Responsible for confidentially handling of employee information.
  • Responsible for documenting and counseling employees with disciplinary actions. 
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, damage or delays, following proper procedures and creating practical corrective actions.
  • Responsible for completion of incident corrective actions, as assigned.
  • Responsible for completing and documenting area inspections and audits, along with completion of corrective actions.
  • Responsible for employee training and development.
  • Ability to listen to employees’ suggestions and concerns.
  • Responsible for communicating daily production, goals and information to Mine Operation department employees.
  • Supervises execution of a mine plans, including continual technical and procedural improvements in crew operations to ensure achievement of efficiencies, mine plans, production volume and ore quality in order to meet deadlines and cost goals.
  • Participates in planning and development meetings to ensure plans are understood and executed.
  • Works collaboratively with mine maintenance, mine engineering, support services, human resources, safety, supply chain, finance, process and environmental areas to achieve business plan objectives.
  • Develops cross functional synergies utilizing external support services as required.  
  • Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of Robinson Nevada Mining Company and KGHM.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8 years’ of experience in one of the following fields, or any combination thereof, preferably open pit: Mine operations, construction, engineering, or other technical experience.
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: B.S. Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or other related field.  Equivalent 10 years of related experience can substitute for the Engineering degree requirement.
  • Experience: 5 years’ of supervisory experience.

 

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Minor to moderate operational skills in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Minor to moderate operational skills in JDE and TCP.
  • Exposure to mine planning related software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee development.
  • Focus on Safety.
  • Strong personnel development, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and incident investigation skills.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal travel required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The Mine Operations Senior Shift Supervisor (409), manages a crew of 60 plus hourly employees and two junior, salaried supervisors.  
  • Management of staff to ensure work is performed on-time and within budget.

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to meet the required physical demands, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
