Job Description
This job post is for a Full-Time position with the City of Schertz Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Parks Maintenance Technician I performs unskilled and semi-skilled work involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the city’s park and pool facilities. Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; some weekends and on-call days as required. This position may be filled as a Parks Maintenance Technician I or Parks Maintenance Technician II.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Loads and unloads construction materials and bench stock supplies.

• Cleans, disinfects, and paints park restrooms and pavilions.

• Maintains park and pool facilities in a clean and safe condition.

• Operates power tools and light construction equipment.

• Repairs water lines, trims trees, inspects playgrounds, and sprays herbicide.

• Makes recommendations that impact the budget.

• Performs rough painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs and maintenance.

• Operates grounds maintenance hand equipment.

• Operates pick-up trucks, tractors, and mowers.

• Mows grass in city parks and at municipal buildings.

• Performs minor maintenance on vehicle, lawn mowers, and other small equipment.

• Performs other job-related duties as required.

• Assists other City of Schertz Departments as needed.

• Performs pool maintenance and monitoring of pool chemicals.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires High School Diploma or GED, and one (1) year of related work experience.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIRED:

• Requires Pool Operator certification

• Class “B” CDL valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
