Job Description

Position Purpose

Upholds the Credit Union’s mission of “We do the right thing one member, one employee, and one experience at a time to strengthen the communities we serve” by executing strategies to enhance the overall image of the credit union through nurturing key community partnerships and serving as an ambassador for the organization. Primary responsibilities include developing community relationships; organizing and participating in fundraising and charitable activities; overseeing internal volunteer program and promotions, coordinating events and internal communication, analyzing community planning and economic reports; and looking for opportunities that promote the Credit Union philosophy.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Marketing team to set and coordinate promotional needs as it relates to community partnerships, charitable sponsorships and events through the website, email, press releases or other communication channels.
  • Must have willingness and drive to be on-site to activate on partnerships and design events that create experiences for specific audiences.
  • Develops giving strategies with AVP of Brand and Partnership Marketing and executes tactics that utilize designated funds to the highest potential by adhering to the credit union’s giving requirements.
  • Directs event production which would require coordination with external vendors, location scouting, on-site set-up, clean-up, and post-event analysis. Events include grand openings, branch remodels, sponsor activation, community events, etc.
  • Facilitates and manages branding standards with external logo usage in sponsorship opportunities and associated materials.
  • Organizes events in collaboration with our CEO, management team, and internal departments for member or community events, such as recruiting activities, educational opportunities, tables for sponsorships, golf outings, and more as assigned.
  • Manages internal donation management software and processes daily, and reviews system after software updates.
  • Assists in the tracking of Capital Credit Union’s charitable giving programs which may include Scholarships, Elevate Communities, Give Back, Employee Matching, etc. This may include other future programs as they develop.
  • Educates and empowers internal team members on the volunteer program, various giving opportunities, and recruits for continued engagement.
  • Maintains Community Outreach budgets and evaluates new opportunities. Must be able to handle large budgets and provide documentation for adjustments or new proposals. Works with AVP of Brand and Partnership Marketing for budgetary adjustments and processing.
  • Upholds a positive reputation on behalf of Capital Credit Union when representing the organization at charitable activities, public presentations, committee work, or other related events. Also maintains internal relationships to engage volunteer pool and enhance participation.
  • Able to prepare and speak on behalf of the credit union in public or coordinate the appropriate speaker for the activity or situation as needed.
  • Follows charitable regulations and compliance protocols in relation to the financial industry and maintains strong record retention practices.
  • Provides resources and guidance for branches and their local efforts. This may include local fundraisers, item drives, etc.
  • Works with the Marketing Department to increase brand awareness and member loyalty. This can include, but is not limited to, concepting, producing promotional materials, and exploring new avenues of business.
  • Moderate travel required to various branches, events, off-site meetings, seminars, and conferences.

Necessary Experience and Qualifications

  • High level of energy and engagement for extended periods of time at events
  • Demonstrates a curiosity to learn Capital Credit Union’s community support processes with a goal of helping to enhance the member experience.
  • Has a bachelor or an associate degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or a business-related field, or four years of previous work experience in relatable positions.
  • Requires strong time and project management skills. Must be able to monitor multiple times lines at once and meet deadlines.
  • Public speaking skills are strongly desired. Must excel with providing accurate information in a public setting or during presentations.
  • Prior donation management software experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in compiling and monitoring reports on a regular basis to ensure proper giving and accounting requirements are upheld.
  • Can read, write, and comprehend detailed and technical instructions, and translate technical (procedural) information for a non-technical audience. Familiarity with writing press releases, media alerts and other external content is preferred.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible. Can handle high-stress situations and navigate next steps individually or with a team.
  • Pays close attention to detail and maintains a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with a diverse group of employees and members, both on an individual basis as well as in group settings.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and atmosphere and preserves sensitive information with integrity.
  • Possesses the ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment and support overall business objectives.
  • Able to operate a computer and basic office machines, as normally acquired through a basic course or one to three months of on-the-job experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Office environment with moderate level of noise
  • Prolonged sitting or standing
  • Frequent late weeknights and weekend work is required for activities
  • Frequent mental and visual concentration
  • Frequent use of telephone, copier, computer, and other office machines
  • Possess valid Driver’s License for occasional travel for events, meetings, etc.
  • Minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Outdoor environments (travel) where temperature variations could be somewhat uncomfortable
