Job Title:  Freshman Defensive Line Coach
Location:  Kuna High School 
Reports:  Principal and Athletic Director
Hours: Part Time

Job Summary:

The Freshman Defensive Line Coach is responsible for the technical development and mentorship of entry-level student-athletes. This role focuses on teaching the fundamentals of defensive line play—including stance, start, and gap integrity—while reinforcing the defensive schemes used by the Varsity program. You serve as both a technician and a motivator, ensuring players develop the physical skills and discipline necessary to progress through the program.

 
Qualifications:



  • Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of a program

  • Cleared background investigation

  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below

  • Positive public relations skills

  • Strongly encouraged to complete a coaching principles courses

  • Complete a First Aid Course with CPR component


 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Coordinate total development and promotion of the program

  2. Promotes all athletes to participate in sports and activities throughout the school year

  3. Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions

  4. Adjust coaching techniques, based on the ability of athletes

  5. Arrange and conduct program-specific activities, such as summer training, skills-improvement sessions, and pre-season try-outs

  6. Instruct athletes in rules, game strategies, and performance principles

  7. Provide training, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competition

  8. Hire, supervise, and train assistant coaches

  9. Develop and arrange competition schedules and programs with the approval of the Athletic Director

  10. Generate additional funds for support of the program through approved fundraisers

  11. Inventory and issue Athletic Equipment

  12. Professionally communicate with the media

  13. Carefully operate under state/league/school rules and regulations.

  14. Understand rules and regulations and comply with High school activities (See link:http://www.idhsaa.org/manage/articlefiles/11-Football.pdf  Discipline, adjusts grievances and works to increase morale and cooperation.

  15. Provide all documentation to the Athletic Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examination, parental consent, and eligibility.

  16. Effectively manage a budget

  17. Manage and coordinate Athletic facilities

  18. Ability to evaluate assistant coaches

  19. Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner.

  20. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.

  21. Adhere to the KMS academic standards

  22. Maintain a school website for communication purposes
