Role Overview

As the Historical Site Interpreter at Corydon Capitol State Historic Site, you will primarily be responsible for guided tours around the historic site.

 

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.73 per hour but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Responsible for interpreting all aspects of the site including but not limited to the following duties:
  • Guided tours, particularly a large school field trip audience
  • Educational and Public Programming assistance
  • Special events
  • Gift shop sales

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • At least one (1) Year of experiance.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have excellent people skills, be comfortable interacting with large groups of people and children, and display a love of history
  • Ability to learn facts and retain information
  • Must have or be willing to acquire knowledge of site and surrounding area
  • Must be organized and responsible
  • Must be able to work unsupervised as necessary
  • Must be able to operate cash registers and handle money
  • Weekends and some evening hours required

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
