Career Opportunities: Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis Software Engineer (m/f/d) (974)
We are looking for Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics Libraries and Tools Software Engineer to join our group at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany.
You will be part of the maintenance and evolution team and contribute by including prototyping and development where necessary, of Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics support tools and libraries. Your support will be provided to the Flight Dynamics team within the Flight Operations (FLO) division of the Operations and Services to Users (OPS) Department.
Responsibilities
As Software Engineer for Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics, your tasks will typically include:
- Compilation and analysis of requirements
- Design and selection of implementation solutions in agreement with EUMETSAT
- Prototyping of new Flight Dynamics (FD) tools and software
- Enhancement, maintenance, or migration of FD tools and/or FD libraries
- Contribution to the evolution and maintenance of the FD dashboard
- Execution of mission analysis / FD offline operational tasks
This is a full-time position located at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, to start in May 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Qualifications & Competencies
Applicants shall have a university degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
You should have experience at least 3 years in the following mandatory skills:
- Advanced programming skills in Python
- Strong knowledge of FD libraries (OREKIT, GODOT/GENEOS)
- Strong expertise in FD models and concepts
- Strong expertise in station-keeping and orbit acquisition for LEO/GEO orbits for high/low thrust spacecrafts
- Good experience with Git (CI/CD pipeline setup, automatic tests setup)
- Good knowledge of collision avoidance processes
- Good experience with Linux
- Good experience with DevOps tools and practices (Docker, SonarQube, Sphinx, Kubernetes, Jenkins)
- Experience with Java
- English language
Nice-to-haves:
- Flight Dynamics operation background
- Web application architecture and development concepts (Vue.js framework, Django, Javascript/Typescript, HTML)
- Napeos knowledge
