About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Radiation Oncology Coder to support professional fee (physician) coding for hospital-based services as well as global billing in freestanding radiation oncology centers. This fully remote role ensures accurate coding, compliance with regulatory requirements, and optimization of reimbursement. The ideal candidate brings strong radiation oncology coding expertise across both care settings and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for radiation oncology services, including professional fee (physician) services and global billing in freestanding centers
- Review physician documentation and treatment records to ensure completeness and accuracy across hospital-based and freestanding settings
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, federal, state, and payer-specific guidelines for both hospital-based and freestanding environments
- Identify, research, and resolve coding edits, denials, and billing discrepancies
- Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, physicists, and revenue cycle teams to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy
- Stay current with coding updates, payer policies, and oncology-specific regulatory changes
- Participate in internal audits and quality assurance initiatives
- Support education efforts related to coding and documentation best practices
What You Bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification required
- Radiation Oncology Certified Coder (ROCC) certification preferred
- 2–3+ years of radiation oncology coding experience required
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and radiation oncology coding guidelines
- Experience with professional fee (physician) coding in hospital-based settings
- Experience with global billing in freestanding radiation oncology centers
- Experience with ARIA, MOSAIQ, Varian, or similar oncology systems
- Knowledge of NCCI edits and payer policies
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
