    Benedictine High School is seeking a qualified and mission-driven educator to join its Mathematics Department.

    Position Overview

    The math teacher is responsible for preparing the students academically for a successful college career. The teacher assists in creating a school culture of high academic standards among faculty and students. S/he encourages an expectation of life-long learning evidenced by continually improving learning experiences.

    Teachers at Benedictine participate in curriculum development and provide the associated instruction and assessment for students to which they are assigned. They focus on student growth and achievement through planning and execution of instruction, using collaboration with colleagues and the school leadership team. They are an active part of the community as they moderate clubs and attend events and contests.

    Responsibilities

    The Mathematics teacher will:

    • Develop and execute standards-based curriculum within the school's educational philosophy
    • Use student performance data derived from teacher-created and standardized assessments to develop and execute differentiated curriculum, instruction, and individualized learning plans to meet individual student needs
    • Establish a strong working relationship with their co-teachers and design and implement a Math Lab tutoring program to assist struggling students
    • Provide needed behavioral and academic intervention for students directly and by utilizing the resources of administration, the Counseling Department, supervisors and colleagues
    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and that follows the behavioral guidelines of the school
    • Proactively develop a positive relationship with students and families for the purpose of creating support for students and their education
    • Participate in professional development activities to continually improve teacher skills

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will:

    • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Benedictine High School and the formation of young men.
       
    • Be passionate about teaching high school students and helping them grow academically and personally.
       
    • Be open to feedback, professional growth, and collaboration with colleagues.
       
    • Have the ability to use data and differentiated instruction to support student learning.
       
    • Be proficient with classroom technology and instructional tools.
       
    • Show strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, colleagues, and families.

     

    • Demonstrate experience teaching Math, preferably Algebra.
       
    • Hold a valid Ohio teaching license or be pursuing a Resident Educator License.
       
    • Have experience teaching in a Catholic or mission-driven educational environment, or demonstrate a willingness to support the Benedictine tradition.
