Job Description

The division of genetic medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a dynamic tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The selected candidate will join our vibrant academic community of investigators as part of the larger Vanderbilt Genetics Institute community. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with other research and clinical departments across Vanderbilt including leveraging unique institutional genomics resources such as the >300,000 sample BioVU biobank which includes DNA samples linked to the longitudinal electronic health record. Whole genome sequencing of the first 250,000 BioVU samples is now complete. Other flagship genomics and multi-omics efforts at Vanderbilt include the All of Us Research Program’s Data and Research Center, the Undiagnosed Diseases Network, the Electronic Medical Records and Genomics (eMERGE) program, the Genomic Learning Health System program, Polygenic RIsk MEthods in Diverse populations (PRIMED) program, NHLBI’s Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) program, Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program, among others. Division faculty also pursue laboratory based basic science investigations. Division faculty teach in the Vanderbilt Human Genetics PhD and Masters of Genetic Counseling programs. More information about the research, clinical and educational programs in the Division can be found at our website: https://medicine.vumc.org/divisions/genetic-medicine

We welcome applications from individuals who hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, with a strong background in genetics, genomics, or a related field. The successful candidate will engage in rigorous research, employing computational or experimental techniques to address fundamental questions in genetic medicine.

The successful candidate will be allocated space for their research group and a competitive start-up package to develop a robust research program. We expect candidates to contribute to our faculty's strong commitment to training and mentoring at all levels, which includes classroom teaching and laboratory mentorship.
