Position Duties
Job assignments include, but are not limited to the following:
Plans, organizes, participates and directs the work of key personnel and/or contractors in the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of Stand-by Generators and to also include pumps, motors, pipework, electrical and all appurtenances to Water/Wastewater/Reclaim treatment facilities.
Instructs key personnel and/or contractors in safe practices and proper work methods. Provides technical instructions as required and makes periodic inspections to ascertain that established work methods and practices are followed. Perform and participate with safe practices of confined space entries as required. Coordinates with other departments and contractors for installation, repair and maintenance assignments as needed.
Submits requisitions for equipment and materials, reviews work orders for priority, clarity and completeness. Distributes and completes work orders (CMMS) to appropriate personnel. Installs, overhauls, repairs, services and maintains Stand-by Generators and related equipment such as, but not limited to pumps, motors, gas and diesel engines, meters, gauges, compressors, blowers, valves, back check and any other equipment as needed.
Performs potable water, wastewater and reclaimed water installation, repair, maintenance and inspection activities. Ensures reliability of emergency power generation/pumping and transfer equipment tests. Maintains all treatment facilities, housekeeping, vehicle and grounds maintenance. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of methods and techniques used in the installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of electrical motors, pumps and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to make inspections to determine operating conditions and needed repairs for Stand-by Generators and pumping equipment.
- Ability to work from blueprints, pencil sketches or written and oral instructions.
- Ability to use a variety of mechanic's tools and shop equipment.
- Knowledge of wastewater collection, treatment plant maintenance; plumbing system installation, repair, or maintenance methods, procedures, equipment, tools, materials and supplies.
- Knowledge of supervisory techniques and practices.
- Skill with operating various size Boom and Crane trucks, Articulating Lifts, Scissor Lifts, Fork Lifts and other equipment as needed.
- Skills in the proper use of mechanic's tools and shop equipment in the installation, repair and preventative maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to prepare accurate records and reports. To include computerized based work order system.
- Must have home telephone and be available for overtime work as well as mandatory on-call rotation.
- Performs and assists in confine space entries.
- Ability to recognize occupational hazards and implementation appropriate safety precautions.
