Duties and responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 instruction to an individual student during 50-minute appointments, including issuing tests and homework assignments.
- Present lesson in a clear and logical manner.
- Adapt instruction based upon each individual student’s understanding, aptitude and knowledge base.
- Provide each student with the opportunity for active involvement and creative thinking.
- Continuously demonstrating mastery of subject material.
- Continuously communicate with parents regarding
- Tracking student attendance at each teaching session and submitting attendance records through the online teacher portal.
Scholastic (Non-Instruction) Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attending and participating in mandatory professional development, teacher in-service, training, and staff meetings.
- Collaborating with instructors in writing and revising course outlines and syllabi.
- Embracing and seeking out new technology and educational tools that continuously improve FIE’s quality of education.
- Any other projects and assignments designated by the Campus Director or FIE management in support of campus operations.
Parent/Student Contact:
- Teachers are expected to establish rapport and develop positive relationships in order to provide excellent service to parents and students.
- Keep parents up to date on student progress using the tools and communication systems provided for this purpose.
- If a student’s homework is incomplete or not presented as expected, it should be reassigned for the next session.
- Call parents when students are 10 minutes late for their appointment. If a student arrives late, teaching occurs only during the remainder of the appointment time.
- Retain records of all communication to the parent/guardian.
- If student does not arrive for an appointment, the teacher must notify the Campus Director of the unplanned absence. The Campus Director will determine the appropriate alternative activities or assignments to be performed during the vacated session.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Years/Type of Experience: High School Teaching experience or equivalent (required).
Education: Bachelors Degree (required).
Certification(s)/Licenses(s): Passage of CBEST or other state exams, Current California or other state teaching credential (preferred).

Maintain open communication with parents via school student procedures. Encourage students to explore creative learning styles. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, contracts and course folders. Correct and grade student assessments and projects. Attend and participate weekly staff meetings as planned by the Director. Adhere to all FIE policies and procedures. Represent the program and the company in a positive and professional manner at all times. Communicate with colleagues and supervisors on a regular basis and participate in company training meetings as scheduled.
