Reporting to the VFX Generalist Supervisor, the Generalist displays a high proficiency in varied skills across areas of realism lighting, modeling texture, shading, look development, hard surface animation, rendering with the ability to composite their own work. As a seasoned VFX professional working on feature films, the Generalist is able to break down complex VFX shot work for workflow/schedules and support mentoring/training of others.
Key Responsibilities
Model, texture, and shade 3D assets, including characters, environments, and props, ensuring they meet artistic and technical requirements.
Set up lighting and render shots to produce high-quality, realistic renders that integrate seamlessly with other elements.
Build rigs for characters and props as necessary, assisting in layout and animation
Create and integrate creative and dynamic simulations for shots(e.g., cloth, fluids, or destruction)
Work closely with other departments (lighting, compositing, animation) and incorporate feedback to refine assets and meet project goals.
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of live-action visual effects / high end commercials or advertising experience
Proficiency in 3D software (Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, or similar).
Strong understanding of 3D modeling, texturing, shading, and rendering techniques.
Experience with lighting and rendering software (e.g., Mantra, V-Ray, or similar).
Knowledge of rigging and animation principles.
Experience with dynamics and simulations (cloth, fluids, destruction, etc.) is a plus.
Solid understanding of VFX production workflows and pipelines.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues in the 3D pipeline.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction, contribute creative ideas, and work within a team.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience with compositing a plus
