Job Description

What We Do

At Terabase Energy, we believe that digitalization and automation will drive the next wave of innovation and cost reduction in large-scale solar energy. To fully unlock the potential of this opportunity, Terabase is developing an interconnected software and construction automation platform. We work alongside project developers, owners, and engineering & construction firms to support the design, optimization, and construction of huge solar projects around the world.

Our team is a blend of solar industry veterans and newbies, thought-leaders, dreamers, software, electrical, and mechanical engineers, coders, product managers, project managers, and sales and marketing professionals. We are based in Northern California, with several other offices in the United States and worldwide. If this piques your interest, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Mechanical/Electrical Test Technician to support the development, validation, and deployment of automated systems and electromechanical products. This role is critical in building, fabricating, debugging, and testing complex electromechanical equipment used in advanced manufacturing and field environments.

You will work closely with Automation Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Manufacturing teams to build prototypes, validate systems, and support early field deployments. This is a highly practical role for someone who enjoys both fabricating and troubleshooting — someone equally comfortable with a welder and a wiring schematic.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Davis & Woodland CA.,

Key Responsibilities

System Build & Fabrication

  • Build and assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical prototypes and test fixtures
  • Perform mechanical modifications including drilling, cutting, welding, machining, and fitting
  • Assemble and integrate automation equipment including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic subsystems
  • Wire control panels and field devices per schematics
  • Install sensors, actuators, motors, and motion components
  • Route and terminate cables according to industry best practices

Testing & Debugging

  • Execute system-level and product validation test plans
  • Support bring-up of PLC-controlled and motion-controlled systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, motors, actuators, wiring, and control components
  • Collect, record, and organize test data
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions

Reliability & Validation

  • Support reliability testing and performance characterization
  • Assist in failure analysis and documentation
  • Verify system performance against specifications
  • Provide hands-on feedback to engineering teams during design iterations
  • Support outdoor testing activities and field validation efforts

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain accurate build, test, and as-built documentation
  • Update redlines and assembly records
  • Suggest improvements to assembly, test, and reliability processes
  • Support development of standardized test procedures
