Position Overview


The K–8 Art Teacher plays a pivotal role in implementing the Diocese of Arlington’s curriculum while fostering creativity and integrating Catholic values into art education. This educator will design and deliver engaging lessons that inspire artistic expression and highlight the connection between faith and creativity.




Key Responsibilities


Curriculum Alignment




  • Design and implement standards-based art lessons aligned with the Diocese of Arlington curriculum.




  • Ensure lessons reflect Catholic values and principles.




Faith Integration




  • Incorporate Catholic teachings into art instruction.




  • Encourage students to explore and express their faith through creative work.




Skill Development




  • Provide age-appropriate instruction in a variety of artistic techniques and mediums.




  • Foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic confidence.




Collaboration




  • Partner with faculty to support cross-curricular integration.




  • Contribute to a well-rounded educational experience for all students.




Assessment




  • Evaluate student progress in alignment with diocesan standards.




  • Provide timely, constructive, and encouraging feedback.




Catholic Identity




  • Support and participate in school events that highlight the integration of faith and the arts.




  • Model and promote the values of the Catholic faith within the school community.




Classroom Management




  • Maintain a well-organized, safe, and engaging art studio.




  • Manage materials and supplies effectively.






Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)




  • Experience teaching art to elementary and/or middle school students




  • Familiarity with the Diocese of Arlington curriculum (preferred)




  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills




  • Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the school
