    Senior Network Engineer

     

    As a Network Engineer, you are responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the District's information systems, including wired and wireless networks, communication systems, security infrastructure and data storage solutions. 

     

    This role ensures a stable and efficient technology environment for students and staff by maintaining robust infrastructure systems and supporting current and future educational technologies. The Network Engineer works collaboratively with the IT team, district leadership, and external vendors to ensure system reliability, security, and performance.

     

    Some of what you will do:

    • Manage licensing for infrastructure hardware and software, ensuring compliance.

    • Lead system build-outs, installations, and documentation of processes and procedures.

    • Collaborate with the Director of IT to oversee vendors and managed service providers.

    • Perform patch management on network hardware, operating systems, and third-party software. 

    • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies. 

    • Monitor system performance, security, and reliability; analyze logs and resolve issues. 

    • Provide on-call and after-hours technical support as needed. 

    • Assist with network budgeting and E-Rate application processes.

    • Contribute to the development of IT policies, procedures, and standards. 

    • Promote adherence to security and compliance practices.

    • Stay current on emerging technologies and best practices. 

    • Maintain documentation related to systems, licenses, and compliance. 

    • Support network-based security systems including VPN and firewalls.

     

    The successful candidate will have: 

    • Associate's degree in computer engineering, computer science, business or related field; and

    • Five (5) years' experience in information systems and network administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.

    • Experience managing a computing environment including but not limited to: information systems, infrastructure (servers and networking), storage networks, management tools, desktop applications, security systems, audio and video notification systems (bell, intercom, paging, emergency), telephony systems.

    • Experience implementing and servicing a robust and reliable network for over 5000 users both internal and external in a multi-site environment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • MCSE, CCNP, CCIE, Security, ITLL or other relevant certifications are a plus.

    • Hands on experience of Ekahau wireless site survey equipment, and network access control (Cisco ISE)

    • Cisco certification

    Starting salary is $57,946-$65,603 per year depending on experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
