Salary / Non-Exempt



Grade CN 56N ($17.67 - $22.50) per hour) plus local supplement, if applicable


 


The salary for this position is based upon the successful applicant’s years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position.  Experience outside of this system may not be recognized for pay purposes.  For current Lincoln County School employees, this position will be paid according to the current Lincoln County Schools’ pay scale.


 



Qualifications / Requirements



  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and TB test before starting employment.

  • ServSafe Certification required within six months of hire date.

  • Compliance with all applicable food safety and sanitation rules and regulations at all times, as detailed in HACCP

  • Food service management experience required

  • Ability to assign and direct the work of a diverse staff

  • Computer skills and knowledge of Word and Excel

  • Ability to provide customer service to staff, students, and community

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects

  • Ability to tolerate bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pulling, pushing, and some repetitive motion

  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time

  • Ability to tolerate exposure to extremes of temperatures.



Duties




  • Serves the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness

  • Implements HACCP plan

  • Follows planned menus with occasional substitutions as allowed

  • Observes food preparation and line service to assure quality and proper presentation of food

  • Displays food to reflect school and seasonal activities

  • Orders food and supplies as needed

  • Oversees implementation of daily/weekly work plans

  • Maintains organized and accurate records and reports

  • Provides on-the-job training in equipment use and care, food production and presentation, sanitation, storage, and recordkeeping

  • Evaluates performance of each employee

  • Maintains productive working relationships

  • Recommends hiring and discipline of employees

  • Communicates information as provided by administration

  • Calculates recipe quantities and plans timely food preparation

  • Comprehends directions for use and maintenance of equipment

  • Ensures proper portion control

  • Supervises staff in inventory control

  • Performs duties at special meal functions as needed

  • Provides training appropriate to the development of potential managers

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CN Director
