You will bridge the gap between Sales, Finance, and our customers. This role is responsible for ensuring that every contract signed in our CRM is accurately reflected in our billing engine (Younium), managing the flow of data to our outsourced accounting team, and maintaining the day-to-day operations of our headquarters.
Description
Location: Berkeley, CA (In-Office)
Schedule: Part-Time (approx. 6 hours/week)
Pay: $45-$60/hour
The Mission
Mapistry helps industrial and manufacturing companies run their environmental programs with clarity, confidence, and accuracy. We replace chaotic spreadsheets, siloed data, and complex compliance workflows with software that actually works for environmental teams in the real world. We are looking for a teammate to own our "Quote-to-Cash" engine, ensuring that our billing and revenue recognition systems scale alongside our growth.
The Role
You will bridge the gap between Sales, Finance, and our customers. This role is responsible for ensuring that every contract signed in our CRM is accurately reflected in our billing engine (Younium), managing the flow of data to our outsourced accounting team, and maintaining the day-to-day operations of our headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoicing & Lifecycle Management: Audit signed contracts from the CRM (HubSpot) and manage the full invoicing process in Younium.
- Revenue Recognition (ASC 606): Oversee the automated revenue recognition schedules for annual upfront payments, ensuring accurate monthly pro-rata recognition.
- Invoicing & AR Management: Navigate diverse invoice submission requirements—whether via direct email or customer portals like Ariba, Coupa, etc. You will also lead the follow-up process for overdue invoices as needed.
- Systems Ownership: Serve as the primary administrator for Younium. You will be the point person for troubleshooting integrations, coordinating with Younium support, and maintaining data health.
- Sales-to-Finance Bridge: Audit contract data against signed agreements to ensure terms, seats, and billing triggers are set up correctly.
- Product Evolution: Partner with Product and Sales teams to configure new SKUs, pricing models, and discount logic within the billing system.
- Proration & Adjustments: Manage the "messy" parts of SaaS billing, including mid-term upgrades, co-terming new add-ons, and issuing credit memos.
- Accounting Liaison: Act as the internal point of contact for our outsourced accountants, ensuring they have the documentation and reports needed for monthly closes and ASC 606 compliance.
- Office Stewardship: In partnership with our remote executive assistant, you will handle the in-person tasks required to keep our Berkeley headquarters running smoothly (e.g., supply ordering, fridge restocking, and espresso machine maintenance).
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: 3–5+ years in billing or revenue operations within a B2B SaaS environment, with proven experience managing automated revenue recognition schedules (ASC 606) within a dedicated billing engine.
- Technical Troubleshooting: You are comfortable "opening the hood" of a software tool to fix a sync error or update an integration.
- Relevant Tooling Experience: You have managed professional-grade B2B subscription engines. While Younium experience is a plus, we value deep experience in similar tools such as Maxio (SaaSOptics), Chargebee, Ordway, or Zuora.
- Detail Obsession: You take pride in "clean" books and catch the small discrepancies between a signed contract and a drafted invoice.
- Startup Mindset: You are excited about the prospect of building and refining processes rather than just following a pre-existing manual.
Why This Role Might Fit You
We are specifically looking for a long-term, intentional part-time partner. This is not a "stepping stone" to a full-time role; rather, it is a stable, fractional position designed for a high-level professional who values a 6-hour weekly commitment. This role is ideal if you:
- Are a "Fractional Pro" or stay-at-home parent looking to keep your specialized SaaS skills sharp.
- Want high-impact, technical ownership without the burnout of a 50-hour work week.
- Value a consistent, long-term professional home in a mission-driven company.
Schedule and Location
- Approximately 2 days per week, about 3 hours per day (around 6 hours per week total).
- On‑site at our downtown Berkeley office; days and times can be set to fit a consistent weekly schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate commensurate with experience $45/hour to $60/hour
- Flexible, family‑friendly schedule within standard business hours.
We truly care about building an inclusive and diverse team. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We are committed to building an equity-driven workplace with a team that is as intersectional as our users. This means meeting with and hiring candidates who are underrepresented in tech, and we will not fill this position without first meeting with a representative group of candidates.
