Job Description

Job Title: Faculty, Lead Culinary Instructor

Campus: Upper School Grades 9-12

Qualifications:

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy is seeking a 9-12th Grade Lead Culinary Instructor within our entrepreneurship program who will focus on forming students through culinary excellence, hospitality, and a biblical vision of food as fellowship.

This role will include accountability for:

· Hands-on instruction in our state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, resulting in practical long-term outcomes for our students

· Integration of core business concepts into daily instruction (i.e. structural economics of recipes, consumer and market research, cost optimization, etc.)

· Leadership and co-creation of vision setting for CHCA's partnership with The Teaching Kitchen Collaborative (https://teachingkitchens.org/)

· Shared accountability for CHCA's K-3rd grade Health & Wellness programming (i.e. field trips to teaching kitchen, healthy recipes, collaboration with the school greenhouse)

Beyond the ability to teach cooking skills, safe food handling and sanitation to classes of 5-15 high school students, this dynamic and exciting role requires:

- 5+ years of professional culinary experience

- Clear sense of Christian vocation: mature Christian faith evidenced by viewing food, hospitality, and shared meals as expressions of fellowship, service, and stewardship

- Commitment to excellence and craft: High standards for technique, preparation, sanitation, sourcing, and presentation, modeled consistently for students

- Willingness to work beyond regular school hours on occasion (school events, open houses)

- Passion to serve as the steward of the kitchen assets (equipment, pizza and bread ovens, smokers, etc.) to serve the CHCA and surrounding communities

- Ability to design, host, and teach field trips for K-8 grade

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide strategic oversight for the culinary pillar of the Entrepreneurship program

· Lead lectures and hands-on sessions that deliver practical short/long term impact for students

· Use culinary frameworks to teach students core business principles (accounting, consumer research, marketing, cost saving)

· Grade students on their performance

· Maintain order and cleanliness of the entire kitchen space

Requirements:

· Bachelor or 4-year degree

· Certificate or degree in culinary arts

· Strong communication skills

· ServSafe Certification

· Teaching or training experience (preferred)
