JOB SUMMARY

Foresite Group is excited to announce an opening for a Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team.  This position will participate in a diverse range of Traffic Engineering projects from inception through completion. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring projects comply with regulatory standards, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions for Traffic Engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil engineering with a strong background in traffic engineering, and a commitment to sustainability and innovation. This role is flexible in location and open to our Texas, Colorado, and Oregon offices.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Traffic Engineering

  • Perform traffic operations analyses to evaluate roadway performance, safety, and efficiency across various transportation networks.
  • Develop and optimize traffic signal timing plans, including coordination, phasing, and progression to improve traffic flow.
  • Prepare traffic signal design plans in accordance with applicable DOT standards, including layouts, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Design roadway signing and pavement marking plans to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and enhance roadway safety.
  • Conduct Traffic Impact Analyses (TIA) to assess the effects of proposed developments and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with DOT agencies, municipalities, and project stakeholders to ensure designs meet regulatory and project requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, studies, and supporting documentation for project approvals.
  • Support Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design efforts, including planning and integration of traffic technology solutions (preferred but not required).

 

Technical Expertise

  • Utilize civil engineering software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, AutoCAD, Microstation, and Vissim, for project design and analysis.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve project outcomes.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance checks on designs and plans.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, providing technical oversight and professional development support.

 

Problem-Solving and Innovation 

  • Apply strong analytical skills to identify and solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Propose and implement innovative and sustainable engineering solutions to improve project outcomes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field

Experience:  Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on traffic.

Licensure:  Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in engineering design software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, AutoCAD, Microstation, Vissim and other relevant tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
